Emory & Henry University Arrives…!

The Copey community has welcomed Amelia Terry who has arrived to volunteer for the next four to five weeks at the Copey Learning Center. Amelia is a senior at Emory & Henry University (EHU) located in Emory, Virginia, majoring in Psychology, Civic Innovation and Hispanic Studies. She follows a long and impressive line of EHU students who have previously volunteered at the Copey Learning Center. We wish her new adventure will be productive and exciting. Amelia…God Speed!

EDDS Fundraising Update…!

We are prematurely claiming victory for reaching our goal of $2,300.00 to support the Executive Director’s salary for this current year. Technically, we currently have in hand the amount of $2,075.00. There remains a shortage of $225.00. There is a funding plan that will cover the shortage and will allow us to meet our goal and commitment.

The Pathway Project…!

There is the continuation of “very good news” to report as we now march towards the June annual reception scheduled to welcome our next couple of Copey Learning Center students, Matias and Amy Gabriela, heading to the United States.

The two students and Catalina (chaperone) are planning to travel to the United States during the week of June 15th

This project will also require financial support. Next week, I plan to officially launch this fundraising campaign to get us started. Several of the “Friends” have already provided financial support to the prior two campaigns.

I must now call on those of you who have been past and loyal financial supporters who have not yet made a donation to help support either of the first two campaigns. The two students and Catalina (chaperone) are planning to travel to the United States during the week of June 15th. Consequently, some early funding (but not the full funding amount $4,500.00) will be needed to support some of the early travel costs.

 Start Planning Now…!

We are only about four weeks away from gathering in Abingdon, Virginia to welcome our 2025 Pathway Project students. Last year was a huge event with guests from five different states. Make plans to attend and let’s keep building this project and “making a difference” for Copey. June 20th is the date of the Annual Reception. Join us!
