“The purpose of life is not to be happy; it is to be useful, honorable, and to have it make some difference.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Criss Crossing the USA.!
The speaking tour continues. It is close to 4:00am Monday morning and I am still pumped up from the time spent here in Jasper County, South Carolina this weekend. I joined several other members of the “Slave Dwelling Project” and together we shared information regarding the role of slaves during the American Revolution as part of America 250th. You can check out online the “Slave Dwelling Project” founded by Joe McGill.
Just a week ago I was in southwest Virginia speaking at two key events. I am very appreciative to see many good friends including several childhood friends. I am grateful for the ongoing hospitality provided by my dear friend George Whitley and very grateful that my friend Eric Johnson traveled a long distance to attend the Dr. King performance at the Lincoln Theater in Marion, Virginia on June 21st.
I returned to Washington state last Monday. Then, I traveled to South Carolina Saturday and heading home later today. I am grateful for these late in life opportunities and appreciate all the support and interest. If you are keeping tabs…go to “Upcoming Events” at http://www.arthurbroady.com
Emma Terry Connects..!
We remember Emma Terry and her association with “Friends” dating back to September 2022. Emma, the granddaughter of the late John Yegge who was a 2013 charter member of “Friends”. John introduced me to Emma and this resulted in Emma becoming a volunteer in Copey.
John passed away June 15th, 2025 and after a year, the family was able to hold John’s Memorial Service last week. Emma traveled from Costa Rica where she remained working in the country following her time at Copey. I attended the service and enjoyed seeing Emma again and meeting her mother and father. This is a wonderful family and I am grateful for John’s dedicated support and Emma’s outstanding service to “Friends of Copey”.
