Thank you “Mother’s” of the “Friends of Copey” universe. Based on my estimate, females make up 63% of our supporters. The vast majority of these are mothers and grandmothers.
Translated, there is a lot of motherly love and care being spread among this project. Thank you.
Volunteer Teacher(s) Needed!
There isn’t much new to report since last week. Thank you to those who shared comments about Stella and Arthur — their service remains deeply appreciated.
Several of you have been to Copey, and a few of you have even taught there. You know exactly how gratifying the work is and how much commitment it takes to keep the program strong.
Catalina’s latest update is straightforward: there is still no replacement for Stella and Arthur. She is preparing to take on most of the teaching herself, but this is not a workable solution. She cannot cover both high‑school and non‑high‑school students at the same time.
We need help. The program needs help now.
Therefore, this is a near “state of emergency” and your help is badly needed. I know there are many retired teachers among the “Friends” population. You are a huge resource for recruitment assistance in finding one or more volunteers. Retired teachers, current teachers looking for an international experience, or recent grads who are just beginning their teaching career are all excellent candidates. And, others without any teaching experience are excellent prospects as well.
