When”Friends of Copey” began, there were many questions and even objections listed as concerns for this project. I am very pleased “Friends of Copey” did not wait until all objections were addressed.

Don Hugo Chinchilla, Ana Yancy Chinchilla’s beloved father, passed away recently. He was the strong patriarch of Ana
Yancy’s family. Ana Yancy, we are saddened to hear of your loss.
Please know all of the “Friends of Copey” extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to you and your entire family. I appreciate having the personal pleasure of meeting your father and mother during my visit to Costa Rica last November. Such a wonderful family. We will always cherish our time with you while you were the Director of the Copey Learning Center. God Bless you all.
2025 Fundraising Campaign Update…!
Thanks to each of you for the great progress we are making towards our two primary fundraising goals. We have about a week to go to reach the more urgent goal for scholarships. If needed, we can extend our deadline on the Executive Diretor’s Salary Support. Both campaigns are doing very well. Several “Friends” have announced to me that the check is in the mail. The numbers reported today only reflect what has arrived and what the Copey Learning Center is reporting as donations received directly for donors.
Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund (AGBSF)
Goal $1,800.00 Actual $1,350.00 Deadline April 7, 2025
As we head into the final days of this campaign, we are excited to see the continuation of the strong support for the scholarship campaign. The amount reported today only reflects what I have received and the donations sent directly to the Copey Learning Center.
As the Progress Chart idnicates, we are only 25% from achieving our goal by the deadline. If you have planned to donate but not yet done so, this is the best time to take a minute out of your busy schedule. I would also ask you to simply send me a note indicating your donation amount and I will include this in my next report.
Please refer to the Donation Guidleines provided below. It is important to follow the directions provided to avoid delays and the need to return donations if the correct information is not entered on the checks if sent to me.
Executive Director Salary Support Fund (EDSSF)
Goal $2,300.00 Actual $950.00 Deadline April 7, 2025
I am so gratified to see how we are progressing with this campaign. We are tracking well at 41.3% and there are still several loyal
donations not received yet. Those later donors tend to watch our progress and help to fill in the deficits as we conclude the fundraising efforts.
I know I speak for the Copey Learning Center, the Board of Directors, community, and students when I say “thank you all” for the affectionate and faithful support “Friends” provide each year.
We are projecting there will need to be some additional time devoted to making our goal for the EDSS campaign. We certainly take seriously the commitment we share with the Copey Learning Center. The consistent direction of the day to day operation of the Copey Learning Center is essential to achieving the center’s educational goals.
We have been very fortunate to have Catalina as Director leading the way and producing excellent results. Several “Friends” have witnessed the quality and effectiveness of the center’s education program when we meet Copey students at the annual reception. These students have spent years attending the Copey Learning Center.
The quality of the leadership is a direct reflection of the quality and consistency of the education being provided.
Campaign Donation Guidelines
The methods available for donating have not changed since the first fundraising campaign in 2014. If you are planning to be a financial supporter this year, the two methods below have served us well and without any complications.
The Copey Learning Center’s PayPal can be used to make donations directly.
Please access the PayPal system by clicking on… http://copeylearningcenter.org/. Find the PayPal logo in the upper right-hand corner of their homepage. To make certain the Copey Learning Center recognizes your donation and how it should be applied, indicate in the comment section on PayPal that the donation supports the “AGBSF” or the “EDSSF”.
The alternate method is to send me your donation directly. Make the check out to me (Arthur Broady). Once received, your donation will be paid to the same Learning Center PayPal system as in Method #1. I will enter your name and designate where it is to be applied per your directions. The PayPal system will issue me a receipt which I send to you as “proof” the donation has been submitted to the Learning Center in your name. Make your check out to Arthur Broady and send to:
