Campaign Update

No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.”    By Joseph Addison

Friends, the generosity and support has begun. Thank you early donors who have kicked off the campaign with some early donations. We are still a distance away but we have never failed over the past nine years to reach our goals. Our ten year anniversary will not be any different.

AGBSF  Goal $1,800.00      Actual  $275.00

School actually began on Monday and the enrollment is projected to return to the levels of pre-Covid days. We continue to set our goal to support a minimum of 18 students although the total enrollment may result in 50 students attending the Center.

EDSS   Goal $2,000.00       Actual  $175.00

The Executive Director’s Salary Support is also off to a normal start. Only one week into the campaign and we are pleased there has been some income generated.

We will look forward optimistically to next week when there will be a better indicator for our potential to meet our goals.

As in the past, if you are inclined to financially support these campaigns, please do not delay. The Copey Learning Center is already enrolling students and open for business.

Also, if you are unable to be a financial supporter, be a supporter in prayer or encourage us with your optimism and positive thinking. This will only get done with the help of all “Friends”.

Aunt Katherine Remembered..!

We are observing the third anniversary of Katherine Johnson’s departure. We continue to find things to remember about her and there is frequently some unexpected reference to her legacy. The other evening while watching Jeopardy, once again she was one of the questions for the contestants.

The movie “Hidden Figures” is often featured on cable television. I am often asked which book is the best to read to get the full flavor of Aunt Katherine “the person”. There are several books around and of course “Hidden Figures” is the centerpiece. However, “My Remarkable Journey” is less technical and more personal. The authorship was shared by Katherine and her two daughters. Consequently, the combined efforts of all three help us see Aunt Katherine more as an everyday person, and not as much the very unique and talented pioneer.

Campaign Donation Guidelines

The methods available for donating have not changed since the first fundraising campaign in 2014. If you are planning to be a financial supporter this year, the two methods below have served us well and without any complications.

The Copey Learning Center’s PayPal can be used to make donations directly. Please access the PayPal system by clicking on….http://copeylearningcenter.org/. Find the PayPal logo in the upper right-and corner of their homepage. To make certain the Copey Learning Center recognizes your donation and how it should be applied, indicate in the comment section on PayPal that the donation supports the “BCSF” or the “EDSS”.

The alternate method is to send me your donation directly. Make the check out to me (Arthur Broady). Once received, your donation will be paid to the same Learning Center PayPal system as in Method #1.

I will enter your name and designate where it is to be applied per your directions. The PayPal system will issue me a receipt which I send to you as “proof” the donation has been submitted to the Learning Center in your name. Make your check out to Arthur Broady and send to:

725 N. Center Parkway, Apt. N-201, Kennewick, WA 99336  Phone: 509-948-6416

If sending me the check, please do not make the check out to the Copey Learning Center or “Friends of  Copey”. My bank will not allow me to deposit the check unless my name is entered.

If there is a special request pertaining to 501c3 and IRS, please contact me.
