“We have every resource necessary to provide access to education for every child on the planet; we just need to commit to enabling it.” By Adam Braun
Covid-19 helped make 2021 another year of changes in our fund raising efforts for the Copey Learning Center. There were some funds left over from both the 2020 Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund (AGBSF) and the Executive Director Salary Support Fund (EDSS) which were applied to 2021. The request for supplemental funds was made and the generosity continued.
2021 AGBSF Goal: $600.00 Actual: $1,571.00 Deadline: Goal Achieved
For the AGBSF the total $1,571.00 was raised in record time. This additional funding allowed for additional students to experience the benefits of English education in the middle of the pandemic.
This is very admirable of the Copey community to persist with their educational commitments in spite of social restrictions preventing the normal educational process and practices to occur. Thanks to “Friends” we helped the community achieve its mission.
ED Salary Support Goal: $1,400.00 Actual: $2,143.00 Deadline: Goal Achieved
Also, the EDSS funds totaling $2,143.00 given by donors exceeded expectations. These funds allowed the Copey Learning Center to operate efficiently and successfully with experienced leadership for the year.
Other Financial Generosity…!
Robert Barnard, one of the earliest members of “Friends”, purchased and had delivered to Copey’s Administrator, Celeste, a brand new computer to be used for Copey business. This was a sizable gift and my personal thanks to Bob for his continued support for “Friends of Copey” and the Copey Learning Center.
It is important to note there has been several “Friends” expressing their interest in financially supporting the project during the later part of the school year. I encouraged these donors to hold off until we begin our 2022 fundraising campaign.
The total 2021 funding provided was $3,714.00 not including the total cost for the computer. It is an honor and amazing to have donors believing in our mission, responding to financial requests, and trusting our commitment to serve. Our financial priority is always to provide support as needed and when needed. We will continue with our practice to focus on both financial support and non-financial support.
