Promises to Keep…!

“It’s not about division. It’s not about politics. My concern is how do we come together?”  By LeVar Burton

The New 2020 Copey Learning Center Booklet

One of my most favorite times of the year is when Beverly Eads contacts me to let me know “the booklet” is complete. Yes, it feels like Christmas and my excitement is great. All of the Posts written and published on-line for 52 weeks in 2020 are reproduced in hard copy and delivered to me.

Close and long time “Friends” know this is very important to me. Newer members I hope understand why I am elated to have in my hands a complete yearly set of Posts for “Friends of Copey”.

The first set or volume was delivered in 2015 and covered months from December 2013 (our beginning) thru December 2014. Each subsequent year became a separate volume. As of December 2020, there has been 380 Posts published and all are captured in these 7 volumes.

I am seldom without at least one volume when I travel. I am quick to show strangers or even friends our work if the opportunity is there. I cannot describe my joy when someone cares enough to open the pages, check out the titles, read the quotes, marvel at the photos, and even read a few of the messages/news in a Post.

As an added bonus, these volumes leave for the future a complete hard copy record of our efforts…our legacy. On a personal level, I dream of my grandkids or great

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.” Robert Frost

grandkids one day reading about what we (Friends of Copey) did with our lives, our talents, and our dreams.

Bev is credited for compiling all 7 volumes of the Posts. She is an amazing, strongly detailed, close to perfectionist, reliable technician.

And, she and I seldom talk or communicate throughout the year. She quietly goes about her business doing whatever she does and then, the call comes in and its “Christmas” in February. Thank You!

Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund (AGBSF)

AGBSF Goal: $600.00    Actual: $780.00  Deadline: Goal Achieved

We quickly passed our Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund goal for 2021.

This is exciting news. Donations can continue and please remember to send me a note regarding the donation amount if you are donating directly to the Copey Learning Center PayPal. I must make certain to accurately account for our level of support for scholarships.

Executive Director’s Salary Support (EDSS)

ED Salary Support Goal: $1,400.00  Actual: $830.00 Deadline: February 28, 2021

The Executive Director’s Salary Support is still growing. Historically, this campaign is more challenging than the scholarship effort. However, we are tracking well with reports of promised donations on the way. If you have not donated yet, and intend to donate, please do so soon. We are eager to reach our goal on schedule.

Just what does the Director do for the Center?

Teachers are being recruited; students are being enrolled; parents are being informed and coordinated with; scholarship awards are being made; curriculum for seven levels of students are being set up; making sure school materials and supplies are available; assuring on-line services are in place; and many other activities being done…each essential to a successful “opening day” for school. The Director is busy!

This critical area of financial support is what keeps someone capable and competent bringing all things together and helps our scholarship support achieve its purpose.

“Recruiting volunteer teachers to get us thru the first Tri-Semester!”

I call on your support to help us provide an adequate level of compensation for our only paid staff who is primarily responsible for our day to day operational success.

Donation Methods

The methods available for donating have not changed since the first fundraising campaign in 2014. If you are planning to be a financial supporter this year, the two methods below have served us well and without any complications.

  1. The Copey Learning Center’s PayPal can be used to make donations directly. Please access the PayPal system by clicking on….http://copeylearningcenter.org/. Find the PayPal logo in the upper right hand corner of their homepage. To make certain the Copey Learning Center recognizes your donation and how it should be applied, indicate in the comment section on PayPal that the donation supports the “AGBSF” or the “EDSS”.
  2. The alternate method is to send me your donation. Make the check out to me (Arthur Broady). Once received, your donation will be paid directly to the same Learning Center PayPal system as in Method #1. I will enter your name and designate where it is to be applied per your directions. The PayPal system will issue me a receipt which I send to you as “proof” the donation has been submitted to the Learning Center in your name. Make your check out to Arthur Broady and send to:
    725 N. Center Parkway, Apt. N-201, Kennewick, WA 99336  Phone:1-509-948-6416
  3. If there is a special request pertaining to 501c3 and IRS, please contact me.
