Good News For Us!

Confirming Victory…!

I am excited about our recent success in obtaining our two important fundraising goals. This is not a small achievement and I strongly encourage “Friends” to take a victory lap. We had the highest number of donors ever supporting these two campaigns. We have helped sustain the Copey Learning Center’s ability to operate at a high level of performance for the current year.

Thank You Friends!

Of course English education is being provided but there are other activities being made available. Catalina has added art work and dance as part of the upgraded curriculum. A music class is being planned. Various instructors are coming on to conduct these additional classes. All this is providing the students in the Copey community a strong educational oportunity that is uncommon in most similar and economic challenged communities in Costa Rica. Overall, the Copey students are being provided an array of learning experiences due to our support.

2024 Pathway Project

We are clearly on track with the Pathway Project. In a few days, our two students selected to travel to the United States in June will meet with immigration authorities. The authorities will decide to approve or disapprove the students request to travel to the United States. We are optimistic of course. In the meantime, I encourage those living nearby the Emory & Henry College campus in Virginia to plan to join us in welcoming our Copey students. The tentative date for the “annual reception” is set for June 14th in Abingdon, Virginia. Mark your calendar!

I look forward to the “annual reception” held each year. The reception area is very close to my childhood home. I attended schools there and have learned that my family’s history extends back to the mid 1750’s in the same area. The Pathway Project represents a very personal experience. I view it as a fantastic arrangement of events coming together at the same time. There are friends I have known all my life including high school and college friends. There are “friends” there I met later in life. And there is all the family history to explore and experience. All this is centered around the arrival of Copey students and the celebration of our successful efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students in need. I could not encourage you more to join me in this rare time of joy and fellowship.  Again, mark your calendar!

Traveling to Copey…!

I should not get too far ahead of myself but there are reports surfacing that more trips to Costa Rica involving “Friends” are being planned. Several“Friends” traveled to Copey over the past couple years and really enjoyed their experiences. I plan to attend the Copey Learning Center’s November graduation. You are invited to join me. If there is a possibility you can attend the Copey Learning Center’s graduation , let me know.  Enjoy the Pure Life…!
