Lou Remembered…!
Just a quick note to say “thank you” for the very warm response to last week’s Post acknowledging the one year anniversary of the passing of a dear friend. As expected, several newer “Friends” were not around to read last year’s Post. One commented:

“Friends”…the finish line is in sight as we start closing out our connection between very outstanding teachers (the Dream Team) and students from the Copey, Costa Rican community. Phenomenal experience!
I was welcomed into Akaila C.’s and Emery R.’s class this week and as expected, learning is evident!
Here is a note from Lisa B.:
“These past three months with my Copey friends have been very rewarding and such a learning experience for me. In all of my years teaching elementary students, I think the online teaching definitely took me more out of my comfort zone and challenged me in ways that I have never experienced before. Most of all, I want to thank the students of Copey for their hard work. This has definitely been a team effort, and a great team it is.” Lisa B.
Thank You Veterans…!
This week, the USA will focus on thanking veterans for their military service. I am proud of numerous relatives, childhood friends, college brothers, and of course many of my current friends who wore the uniform in service to our country. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to serve as well. In fact, Lou Peery and I both served about the same time in the same branch following our college graduation.
Another fraternity brother recently passed away. Lt. Colonel Paul Spangler served in the military and was highly decorated for his extraordinary service to our country. Following his military service, he became the City Manager of Bristol, Virginia for many years.
Special recognition is extended to Charles, Skeeter, Stevie, Carlos, Gene, Fred, Jim, Adam, and many others who share the name “veteran”. Even though our lives today connect in other different ways, being included among them as a veteran means so much.
Also, never to be forgotten are some of my friends who died while in uniform.
Danny Watkins, Michael Charles, Kenny Delaney, and Frank Campbell, Jr. all served and gave their all!
