This year of english education being provided to Copey students is approaching the final weeks before graduation. This has been another successful year although it has been a very different year in comparison to others.
Following an amazing year in 2024, this year has been one of the more challenging years for all of us. Challenges with having sufficient volunteers at the center to support its mission along with our own end of the support. Overall, the Copey Learning Center has managed well with limited volunteer resources to keep and sustain the day to day operation.
Catalina reports that plans are underway to hold the annual Copey Learning Center’s graduation in late November. There are local efforts are underway in Copey to help raise some funds to cover the graduation expenses. “Friends” has received several recent donations and will be sending these funds to Catalina to financially support the graduation.
I was there along with other “Friends” for the 2024 Graduation ceremony. It truly is
a wonderful experience seeing these students beam with pride and excitement knowing they have been successful at their level. They also see upper level students get rewarded for their ongoing efforts. And, of course there will be the two Copey students who came to the United States last June in attendance reminding all students of the potential opportunity to also travel abroad.
We are pleased to still be a major part of this unique educational opportunity.
