2024 Financial Score Card

“Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” – Henry David Thoreau

The previous Post provided the yearend results of our “Non-Financial” efforts in support of the Copey Learning Center. The results are impressive. Equally impressive are our end of the year “Financial” results.

Both the “Non-financial and Financial” support provides the continuous success we enjoy each year. We are fortunate to have both types of support. Throughout the year we have three major fundraisers: Here are the outcomes of each:

Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund

Goal  $1,800.00    Actual  $1,850.00    Achieved!

On average, each student in need could receive $100.00 towards their enrollment tuition costs. Generally, the full tuition is less than $200.00 per student for the year.

Executive Director Salary Support Fund

Goal $2,000.00  Actual $2,100.00    Achieved!

The salary of the center’s manager (Director) is supplemented with our support and allows for a competent administrator to conduct the day to day operations of the Copey Learning Center. This leadership is essential to the achievement of the educational mission of the organization.

The 2024 Pathway Project

Goal $4,500.00  Actual $4,700.00    Achieved!

In June two more Copey Learning Center students traveled to the USA bringing the total to fifteen students since the Pathway Project began in 2016. Additionally, these funds have included the cost for the chaperone traveling with the students. All “Friends” should be proud of this successful project since it is the living proof of what we all contribute generously to achieve.

Additional Donations:

  1. Tri-City Industries Kiwanis Club, Richland, WA  $500.00

  2. Friends of Copey Donor   $100.00

These donations totaled $600.00 and were used to purchase a much needed laptop and cellphone for the Copey Learning Center. These items were personally delivered by me during my trip to attend the Copey Learning Center’s graduation ceremony in late November.

Subsequent donations were received in December and will be applied to the 2025 Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund when we initiate the fundraising campaign in a couple weeks. The forthcoming fundraising campaigns will allow us to continue our outstanding support for this very worthy English based learning institution.

2025 A new year of challenges!

As stated by Thoreau, “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” We will continue to keep our eyes on the prize and stay extremely busy confronting the challenges of our mission. Let’s stay too busy and success will be the results.
