HAPPY THANKSGIVING

“Gratitude [Thankfulness] unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”  by Melody Beattie

HAPPY THANKSGIVING…to all Friends.

If you have been following this Blog for some time, you can easily understand why I consider everyday a day of Thanks. You, being a “Friend of Copey”, generate many reasons for me being thankful as the wonderful benefits of friendship and support just seem unending.

We are only a few weeks away from celebrating “Friends of Copey’s” 8th year of existence. So many events and acts of love have been noted and reported on over the years demonstrating Thanksgiving is much more than a one day of celebration.

Regardless, I wish all a Happy Thanksgiving Day, even those who do not have this as an annual holiday.

The Semester Ends…!

The Copey Learning Center is now finished with its final semester for 2021. As done with the prior semesters in 2020 and 2021, we had to rely on “Dream Teams”. These are excellent  teachers and devoted educators.

I am moved by the tremendous generosity of time, willingness to give of talent, and the unselfish service to others, demonstrated by our “Dream Team”. Being bystanders, we cannot always appreciate the commitment undertaken by these teachers to voluntarily work with students for 15 weeks. Although the students are absolutely amazing to work with, it still takes time and effort to do the job well.

Teaching on-line also has it challenges, frustrations, and limitations. I refer to these Copey Learning Center teachers as “Dream Team” teachers because of the high level of respect and admiration I have for what they do.

Jane, Sonya, Suzanne, and Emery, are all extraordinary people. What they do and have done is priceless. Jane has now completed her third term and Sonya and Emery have completed their second term as “Dream Team” teachers. Suzanne just completed her first term. From all of the “Friends of Copey”, we thank you.

Copey Learning Center Culminating Ceremony

Saturday, November 27 at 1:30 pm Central Standard Time, the Copey Learning Center will be on line to present the students, teachers, and the final projects completed by the four different classes. We are invited to join in and watch the “Culminating Ceremony”.

This grand finish should have our support and interest. This is the result of what we do and why we do it. These students have all worked hard and the teachers have given so much of their time. Hopefully, we can carve out some time to show them our appreciation and thanks for “making a difference”. Please join me as I help celebrate “Thanksgiving” by showing my thanks to the folks who have succeeded with this project.

Morgan Stone…E&H College Student

Within two weeks, I will highlight Morgan and the support she rendered to the on-line education this semester. We often overlook the complete benefit involved in our relationship with the Copey Learning Center.

College students from Emory & Henry College have established a long running history of support. Frequently it comes down to a case of the “giver becoming the receiver”. The E&H College students get back as much or more than they put into their involvement with Copey.

Morgan shares what being a Teacher Assistant to Jane has meant to her during this final semester. The story is fascinating and very convincing. Look forward to this special feature coming soon.
