Good Tidings of Great Joy!

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour…!  Luke 2:10-11

Merry Christmas to all!

Greetings to all the Friends of Copey. To many of you, this Post must serve as my personal Christmas card wishing you a very merry Christmas. I am again behind getting many of my personal greeting cards prepared and in the mail. Please accept this Post as being just as sincere and meaningful. And, of course, “Don’t Miss the Joy!””

My annual practice of sending out 50-60 Christmas Cards each December started back around 1994. The task would take several days to complete since each card included a personal note. For the past two or three years I have struggled more to get the cards all done and mailed out on time. Also, the cost of stamps has begun to be a problem as well. My only true valid reason for my lateness or failing completely is having more tasks added during the usual time I have always set aside for preparing Christmas Cards.

Therefore, please regard this Post and message as my heartfelt expression of Christmas joy and peace for all.  Merry Christmas!

Reporting on the Year’s Accomplishments!

Within the next two weeks, I will prepare the annual “Scorecard” to document our financial and non-financial accomplishments. The year of 2024 has been another year of great achievements and successes. I have a long list of things you and I can be very pleased with. We completed our eleventh year having met again numerous challenges. We met the challenges of sustainability and consistency in service and continuity. Friends of Copey should feel absolutely pleased and assured that we have continued being “difference makers” in the small community of Copey.

Sharing the Love!

I received a very kind note from a devoted “Friend of Copey” whom I first met during my senior year of high school…sixty years ago.  The note placed in the “Comments” section of the last Post was certainly unexpected and received with great appreciation. Many of you may be surprised to know that more than a dozen “Friends” have known me for fifty years or more and are devoted  “Friends of Copey.”

This is extraordinary! These half century old relationships live a long ways from Washington state…thousands of miles back east and in the south. Each one of these 50 year old friendships have survived the test of time and distance…and are near and dear to me.

I am sharing this with you only because I believe whatever is spoken about me…is also spoken about you…”you are a good people magnet.”

“Everything you wrote about in this blog (“Without the Planters…”) is affirming and inspiring. There are so many good people in the world, and you seem to be a good people magnet, Scrapper. Happy Holidays to all Friends of Copey and the students and their families of Copey.” submiited by Teresa E-S.

Merry Christmas to All! and..Don’t Miss the Joy!”

I wish you each a Merry Christmas and I am looking forward to 2025 when we go for year number 12.

  1. I know Scrapper already mentioned the v isit by Emory & Henry students to Copey in early December but I just wanted to add that the visit by nine students and two faculty members was a HUGE success – the kids were so attentive and involved in the learning program our college students had arranged. The families of the children were all very appreciative, and the host families where our students stayed were remarkably hospitable. It was all wonderful – and the Friends of Copey make these things possible! What a joyous project this is! Merry Christmas to all supporters of the Friends of Copey Learning Center!
