“Dreams do not work unless you take action. The surest way to make your dreams come true is to live them.” By Roy T. Bennett
To say I am excited today would be a serious understatement. I’m very excited being settled in this beautiful area of southwest Virginia, only about 15 miles from the Tennessee border. I am essentially back home where I grew up. Catalina and our two Copey Learning
Center students departed Costa Rica yesterday morning traveling to Washington, D.C. where they began the first leg of their USA journey. They arrived safely late yesterday afternoon.
Beginning as young students several years ago, both Ruben and Guadalupe have worked hard to become proficient in English and are now visiting our country as part of their reward for their academic accomplishments. Today, they will enjoy their site seeing and check the box showing they have visited our nation’s capitol.
Another Eagle has Landed…!
This week begins a new chapter to a wonderful story of continuous success. Ruben and Guadalupe represent the 14th and 15th students from Copey to come to the USA as representatives of the Pathway Project spearheaded by “Friends of Copey” and Emory & Henry College.
This story is huge as it involves an entire community of families and friends in Copey, Costa Rica. Also, the story involves a host of volunteers and financial supporters from around our country making this all possible.
Our guests will arrive at Emory & Henry College on Wednesday where they will spend the balance of their time. A full list of activities and events are planned including the “annual reception” Friday evening which is the highlight for most of us. So please join us if at all possible. This is the only time when “Friends” gather in a single location and we do so to welcome our student guests and celebrate the success of the Pathway Project.
Goal $4,500.00 Current $3,800.00 Need $700.00 Deadline June 24, 2024
Progress towards our goal continues. The distance towards achieving our goal gets shorter. If you have considered financially supporting the Pathway Project and not done so…this is the best time! All sizes of donations are welcomed. If you have already donated this year in support of the prior two fundraising campaigns, consider asking a friend or relative to join us. There is always more room for new “Friends.”
