A Month of Thanksgiving

“I believe we could experience a blessing a day if we told one person each day…I thank you!’  Arthur Broady

Giving Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving to all Friends. This has been a year filled with news and events resulting in a heartfelt thanks. Certainly, the year has been challenging and even that is cause for thanks.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow” is a quote credited to Melody Beattie. Expressed in so few words, we appreciate our life’s journey, at peace with whom and where we are today, and look forward with great optimism for tomorrow.  If we are unable to wake up and be thankful or go to sleep with a heart full of gratitude, then the day spent in between has been of little value.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. You make a difference.

Veterans Day..!

This month also includes our formal recognition and observance of Veterans Day. I confess that most of my past life fell short of acknowledging my own history as a veteran and not recognizing on a large scale the service of so many of my friends and family who served. The exception each year has been recognizing my four friends who served and died during the Viet Nam Conflict. I offer again my special thanks and gratitude to these lost friends.

Danny Watkins was from Meadowview, Virginia; Michael Charles and Kenneth Delaney from Bristol, Virginia; and Frank Campbell was from Chilhowie, Virginia.

I have changed! As a senior adult, I can see the past more clearly. I believe I better understand the value of freedom causing me to be more appreciative for the freedoms I have as a citizen.

I thank all the veterans because these freedoms are worth the price paid to serve.

The End is Near!

The end of the 2023 Copey Learning Center school year is ending. We extend our thanks and praise to those who volunteered as teachers throughout the year. We pay honor to the leadership demonstrated by those in the Copey community who work hard to keep the doors open for business.

I give a very special thanks and praise to the many “Friends” who continue to be loyal and committed to this effort. And, I thank God for bringing into my life so many wonderful people whom without a doubt have that special heart of a servant.

I Give Thanks!!!
