Friends of Copey

Happy Father’s Day

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person: He believed in me.”  Jim Valvano

Happy Father’s Day !

Father’s Day is most special for dads and for all men in general. Dads come along in all forms and even times when there is no biological son or daughter. Many men without their own children end up being positive role models in the form of mentors, coaches, teachers, and leaders. So, I propose we honor all those who are or have been dads, plus those who have or had been a dad substitute for someone in need. Thank you for being there for someone. I am a proud dad…and granddad!

Pathway Project Update…!

I am leaving Washington state today for Virginia to greet the incoming Copey students who are also departing today from San Jose. They head first to Washington, D.C. and will do the usual site seeing before traveling to southwest Virginia on Wednesday.

The annual reception will take place on Friday, June 20th and we are all looking forward to our 8th Pathway Project that brings Copey students to the United States. Who really knew that we would last this long as “Friends” simply wanting to do something positive?

Pathway Project Fundraising Campaign 2025

Goal $4,500.00     Actual  $1,050.00    Deadline:  July 30

Now…this year we have an extraordinary financial challenge. Unfortunately, we did not benefit from extra scholarship and salary support funds as has been the case for the past six years. A stronger plea for support is warranted.

The New QR Code Option to Make a Donation…!

Of course I am optimistic about our ability to raise the funds needed. I struggle each year with some early time concerns. But each year the “possibilitiarians” pull us through and we claim one more year of wonderful success.

There is always a cautious concern and a backup plan, if needed. The backup plan has been called on only once in the 8 years of the Pathway Project. Help if you can and we will do the rest.
