“Morning Has Broken!”
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world.
“Morning Has Broken” is a hymn that was included in many of the church hymnals after it first appeared in 1931. The author was Eleanor Farjeon who lived from 1881 to 1965 and had a number of poems and other literary works to her credit. It was relatively unknown until 1971 when Cat Stevens featured it on his album ”Teaser and Firecat”.
This popular reference celebrates starting fresh
We celebrate because we have witnessed young lives being changed for the better simply when the Copey Learning Center’s doors are open for business.
Friends are positive and consistent contributors. Our fundraising campaign is making very good progress as donations are being sent directly to the Copey Learning Center and indirectly being sent to me. And, there are several encouraging notes reporting donations are on the way.
Please join in the effort if so inclined. Be certain the purpose is very worthy.

Thank You Friends…!
I announced last week the cancellation of the 2024 Pathway Project. Several of you sent notes indicating both disappointment and optimism. The Pathway Project has become a significant part of our entire supportive effort. Copey students come to our country each year which allows us to put faces on the nature of our support. We have the opportunity to meet, listen to,
“Blessed are those that can give without remembering and receive without forgetting.” Elizabeth Bibesco, poet, 1897-1945.
Many of us will miss the experience from the excitement and sense of accomplishment being in the presence of the Copey students. However, being one with deep faith and the belief in “divine intervention” I can hardly wait to see what doors of opportunity will open for us. I have been personally blessed with this project and my gratitude can only be paid forward.
And, let us not forget that we will still have Emory & Henry College students leaving in May to join Tara in Copey. We will still have the existence of the Pathway Project making a difference. More on this in future Posts.
Campaign Donation Guidelines
The methods available for donating have not changed since the first fundraising campaign in 2014. If you are planning to be a financial supporter this year, the two methods below have served us well and without any complications.
The Copey Learning Center’s PayPal can be used to make donations directly. Please access the PayPal system by clicking on….http://copeylearningcenter.org/. Find the PayPal logo in the upper right-hand corner of their homepage. To make certain the Copey Learning Center recognizes your donation and how it should be applied, indicate in the comment section on PayPal that the donation supports the “AGBCSF” or the “EDSS”.
The alternate method is to send me your donation directly. Make the check out to me (Arthur Broady). Once received, your donation will be paid to the same Learning Center PayPal system as in Method #1. I will enter your name and designate where it is to be applied per your directions. The PayPal system will issue me a receipt which I send to you as “proof” the donation has been submitted to the Learning Center in your name. Make your check out to Arthur Broady and send to:
Carol Barnard, 404 Birch Avenue, Richland, WA 99352
Contact me at 1-509-948-6416 if you have questions.
Reminder: If sending me your check, please DO NOT make the check out to the Copey Learning Center or “Friends of Copey”. My bank will not allow me to deposit the check unless my name is entered.
If there is a special request pertaining to 501(c)3 and IRS, please contact me.
