Major Announcement…!
We begin with one major announcement. Dr. Franklin (Lin) Church, has been the Co-Founder for the Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund since the beginning of “Friends of Copey” in 2013. He was a dear life-long friend of my mother Anne who cared for him when he was a toddler. He has been my devoted friend since we began “Friends of Copey” in 2013. 
Recently, I learned Lin has been experiencing medical issues. We “Friends” are sorry to hear the news. As we wish Lin and his family well, I also thought this would be an excellent time to rename the scholarship fund to reflect the names of both my mother and Lin. Their life-long relationship is covered in the link “Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund.”
Both mom and Lin inspired me to take on this project over eight years ago; my mother before her passing and Lin after her passing. Lin has always been there to support this project as a major supporter providing the scholarships for the students. Also, he has been the constant energy source behind our many accomplishments recorded to date. Being Co-Founders with Lin for this scholarship fund over these years has been as good as it gets.
Effective immediately, the Anne G. Broady Scholarship Fund will be renamed the Broady Church Scholarship Fund. The spirit and the inspiration both mom and Lin have given me and this project is an endless blessing.
We all stand, raise our glass, and applaud Lin for his outstanding professional career in the medical field for over 40 years and his devoted support to the “Friends of Copey” project.

Broady/Church Scholarship Fund (BCSF)
Goal: $1,300.00 Actual $100.00 Deadline: March 7, 2022
One of the greatest feelings of accomplishment results from providing young students the opportunity to attend the Copey Learning Center. As several families cannot afford to pay tuition for their first child to attend the Learning Center, other families cannot afford to send the second son or daughter to the Copey Learning Center. Our scholarships help to give as many students as possible the precious and rare opportunity to learn English in rural Costa Rica.
Executive Director Salary Support (EDSS)
Goal: $1,700.00 Actual $100.00 Deadline: March 7, 2022
Teachers are being recruited; students are being enrolled; parents are being informed and coordinated with; scholarship awards are being made; curriculum for seven levels of students are being set up; making sure school materials and supplies are available; assuring on-line services are in place; and many other activities being done…each essential to a successful “opening day” for school.
There is a huge amount of preparation and daily operational work the ED must take care of. I witness year after year the success of this Learning Center depending on the capabilities of the day to day administrator. The amount requested is less than half of the full compensation allotted for the only paid staff on site.
Donation Methods
The methods available for donating have not changed since the first fundraising campaign in 2014. If you are planning to be a financial supporter this year, the two methods below have served us well and without any complications.
- The Copey Learning Center’s PayPal can be used to make donations directly. Please access the PayPal system by clicking on….http://copeylearningcenter.org/. Find the PayPal logo in the upper right hand corner of their homepage. To make certain the Copey Learning Center recognizes your donation and how it should be applied, indicate in the comment section on PayPal that the donation supports the “BCSF” or the “EDSS”.
- The alternate method is to send me your donation. Make the check out to me (Arthur Broady). Once received, your donation will be paid directly to the same Learning Center PayPal system as in Method #1. I will enter your name and designate where it is to be applied per your directions. The PayPal system will issue me a receipt which I send to you as “proof” the donation has been submitted to the Learning Center in your name. Make your check out to Arthur Broady and send to:
